Brisbane Veteran Championships
Rules/Conditions
Authority: These Rules apply to all Golf Championship Events conducted by the Brisbane District Golf Association, including the:
- Brisbane Amateur Championship,
- Brisbane Junior Amateur Championship,
- Brisbane Mid-Amateur Championship,
- City of Brisbane Masters Amateur Championship,
- Brisbane Senior Amateur Championship and
- Brisbane Veterans Amateur Championship.
Any Championship may be played in conjunction with any other Championship at the discretion of the BDGA.
A Championship Committee shall be appointed by the BDGA to control each event ( hereafter called the 'Match Committee' ). The Match Committee will have the full power to alter, shorten or postpone any competition; set another date or vary any of the Conditions of Play should they so decide for any reason. They shall adjudge all matters of dispute, protest or results.
Conditions of Entry

Each Championship is open to any male amateur golfer who is a bona fide member of and holds a Golf Australia (GA) handicap from a GA affiliated golf club ( as nominated on the entry form) and who qualify as follows:
- Brisbane Amateur - Open event with an GA handicap of 7.4 or less,
- Brisbane Junior- open event -age under 18 years and GA handicap of 9.4 or less,
- Brisbane Mid-Amateur -open event-aged 30 to 54 years and GA handicap of 18.4 or less,
- City of Brisbane Masters- open event- aged 50 years or over,
- Brisbane Senior Amateur -open event -aged 55 to 59 years and
- Brisbane Veterans Amateur -open event -aged 60 years and over.
Notes
- Each age quoted is as at the day of competition, and the BDGA may require verification of any age.
- Handicap limits may be varied at the discretion of the BDGA Match Committee.
The Brisbane Amateur and Brisbane Junior Amateur are A.B and W.K. qualifying events.
- To enter a Championship event, a fully completed entry form (available from the BDGA website - www. bdga.org.au) must be forwarded to the BDGA accompanied by the designated entry fee prior to the closing date of entries for that Championship.
- Entries will close at 12 noon on the Monday immediately prior to an event. The draw will be completed and posted on the BDGA website after 12 noon on the Wednesday, 2 days after the closure of entries.
- The BDGA Match Committee will control draw arrangements, starting times, conditions of play, the handicap limit permitting entry and will have the power to ballot out higher handicapped players if necessary in any Championship.
- Golf link numbers are required on each entry form.
- The BDGA Match Committee shall have the power to invite to compete or refuse from competing, any player.
- Each Championship may have a field limited to a number set by the BDGA Match Committee. Should the limit not be reached in the C.of B. Masters, Senior or Veterans Championships by the time of entry closure, entries may be added or substituted until the start of the competition up to the limit under conditions set by and at the discretion of the Match Committee. Any such entry will only be accepted on the designated entry form if accompanied by the designated entry fee. Should the limit be reached, entries will be balloted in on handicap with others listed as reserves in order of handicap.
- The BDGA may at its discretion, refund all or part of any entry fee to a player withdrawing up to 24 hours prior to an event. The BDGA reserves the right to interpret and administer these Conditions of Entry at its discretion.
Conditions of Play
- There may be other gross and handicap events held in conjunction with any of the Championships.
- Brisbane Amateur Championship will be played over 18 holes scratch medal play. A seeded draw will be available prior to the event.

Brisbane Junior, Mid- Amateur , any qualifying round and the final of the City of Brisbane Masters, Senior and Veterans Championships will be played over 18 holes scratch medal Play. A draw will be available before the event.
For the City of Brisbane Masters, Senior and Veterans events, playing partner requests forwarded with the entries may be considered.
- Each player must register at the on course Match Office no later than 30 minutes prior to his tee time, and subsequently report to the tee 10 minutes prior to that tee time. If a player arrives at his starting point within 5 minutes after his tee time, in the absence of circumstances that warrant waiving the penalty of disqualification as provided under Rule 33-7, the penalty for failure to start on time will be two strokes.
- Each player must play with undue delay and in accordance with any pace of play schedule set down by the Match Committee, and available to each player. Failure to comply after being warned will result in a penalty of two strokes ; and for a subsequent offence, disqualification.
- Each player is reminded that care of the course is an important etiquette issue.

In the event of a tie for the leading score of any Championship, there shall be a sudden death play off over nominated holes, or as otherwise determined by the Match Committee.
Each other tie will be determined by a countback as provided in appendix 1 Part C,11(c) of the Rules of Golf.
- No player may win more than one individual trophy at any Championship final or at any round of the CBM.

Each event shall be played under the Rules of Golf and the Local Rules of the Host Club.
- The use of a Distance Measuring Device is permitted in BDGA Championships using Specimen Local Rule , Rules of Golf, Appendix 1 Part B 9.
- Each player and caddie must respect and comply with the Host Club's footwear and clothing requirements.
- Each player must comply with the BDGA Code of Conduct By-laws (see BDGA website).
- Any mobile phones or other communicating device must be switched off or in 'silent' mode on the course, other than in an emergency. Any player or caddie otherwise using such devices may cause the disqualification of the player concerned.
- A player may only retire from an event on medical grounds approved by the Match Committee.
- Any player wishing to compete in the Brisbane Amateur, Junior or Mid-Amateur Championship in a motorized cart must seek prior approval at the time of entry from the BDGA, by the submission of an appropriate medical certificate. Approval may be granted at the sole discretion of the Match Committee. Any player in the City of Brisbane Masters, Senior and Veterans Championships may use a cart without approval. Any caddie may use a cart but the player may not sit or travel therein . Unauthorized use of such a cart will result in disqualification.
