The Competition
Format: Points scoring - order of merit
Events: 3 x Q events ( At designated courses through the year)
Final played in conjunction with the Brisbane Seniors/Veterans Championship (compulsory to return a score card to win the CBM).
Scoring
Q Events
- 1st - 20 points
- 2nd - 18
- 3rd - 17
decreasing by one point each place until 14th = 6 points.
All other players returning a valid card scoring 5 = points.
In the event of ties, the points are totalled and divided by number of players having that score and each is awarded the resultant points.
Final event double points of Q events.
Prizes
- Winner trophy - The Arthur Starkey Plate.
- Expenses to Australian Senior Amateur to the value of $500 (if not eligible or entering, a voucher to that amount).
- Runner-up.
- Best gross of final.
- Best nett of final.
- Prizes for each Q event.
A player may win only one prize in the final event or in each round.
Entry fees
Either:
- $30 per event, or
- $100 covering all 4 events.
Any eligible player contesting the final of the CBM may also contest the Brisbane Senior OR Brisbane Veterans Championships by paying an additional $20.
Rules of the Competition
- The 2011 City of Brisbane Masters (CBM) Championship will commence on the 6th February, 2011, and will be conducted under BDGA Championship Conditions and these Rules.
- The CBM will comprise of 4 events designated by the Brisbane District Golf Association and conducted at various Clubs throughout the District, as outlined on the BDGA website, www.bdga.org.au.
- These events shall be controlled by the BDGA match committee in conjunction with the Host Club using the appropriate Local Rules & Decisions on the Rules of Golf.
- To qualify, players must:
- Be an amateur golfer in accordance with the Rules of Amateur Status as laid down by the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews, throughout the period of the event,
- Have an Australian Handicap of twenty four (24) or less at the time of entry.
- Have reached the age of fifty (50) years, prior to playing in any fixture.
- The competition is open to players who are members of golf clubs who are affiliated with Golf Australia and who hold a GA handicap.
- Each Competitor must enter on the appropriate entry form and submit it to the office of the BDGA by the designated closing date together with the entry fee stipulated. Late entries may be accepted at the discretion of the Match Committee. It is the players responsibility to ensure that all details are correct, including exact handicap. Online entries are available on this website.
- The winner shall be decided on a points formulae as laid down by the BDGA Match Committee.
- In the event of a tie the winner of the Championship shall be decided by a sudden death playoff conducted over holes designated by the Match Committee of the day.
- A player will receive no points under any of the following circumstances:
- Having entered an event and not taken his place in the field.
- Having started in an event and failing to return his scorecard.
- Being disqualified in any round of a tournament.
- It is compulsory for each competitor to use a golf ball and driver named on the current R. & A. and/or U.S.G.A. conforming list.
Penalty for breach of condition: as per the Rules of Golf. - Under BDGA rules the use of a motorised golf cart is permitted in City of Brisbane Masters, Senior and Vets competitions.
- Where events are abandoned due to adverse weather conditions all scores are cancelled. The event may be re-scheduled at the host course or moved to another, if practical, at the discretion of the BDGA Match Committee. The use of preferred lies or teeing up may exclude any qualifying event unless special permission is obtained from the Brisbane District Golf Association.
- The CBM will be conducted by the Match Committee of the Brisbane District Golf Association who may vary these conditions at any time should it be deemed necessary.
